Supporting our Local Communities

One of the many perks of working with Serve Legal, as an auditor, is the abundance of free benefits: day trips, meals out, travel opportunities, and especially, free food. From small grocery purchases for audits to full car boots of click-and-collect grocery shops, our auditors have a fantastic opportunity to fill their cupboards at no cost!

We have been overwhelmed with the kindness of our community as we see increased numbers of auditors donating their excess groceries to food banks and homeless shelters, making a positive impact on their local communities.

After receiving a donation from a Serve Legal auditor, we spoke with Lorna Day, who runs You1st Emotional Support Group and Food Bank in Burton-on-Trent. Her words highlighted the significant difference these contributions make to those in need.

‘I think food banks aren’t just foodbanks. There are a lot of people coming in with mental health and wellbeing issues, you can just tell that people are really struggling.

At You1st, we can give them a food parcel, talk about what they’re struggling with and signpost people to wider support; the jobs centre, doctors GPs. If they’re unable, we are here to pick the phone up and arrange that further support.

We are far more than just food banks.’
