Celebrating International Youth Day

 

Our commitment to youth employment earned us a finalist spot in the 2021 Growing Business Awards for the ‘Positive Impact Award,’ recognising our flexible work opportunities and development programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since our inception in 2006, we have provided work for over 40,000 auditors, most of whom were aged 16-25.

Today, on International Youth Day, we celebrate the incredible contributions of our auditors, especially those aged 16-24. At Serve Legal we currently work with over 6,000 active auditors with 5,000 aged 16-25; we are proud to support and empower youth through meaningful work opportunities, skill development, and community engagement.

We offer flexible job opportunities that fit around young people's studies and other commitments, allowing them to gain work experience without compromising their education or personal lives.

Many of our auditors develop essential skills such as time management, communication, and attention to detail, which are invaluable in any career.

Skill Development and Training

We are committed to the professional growth of our auditors.

Over 76% of the Serve Legal internal team once worked as auditors, with several progressing to director positions within eight years of starting as auditors.

Through the Serve Legal Foundation, we offer funding to support further education and career development within our auditor community – with one auditor funding her master’s degree through our support.

Making a Positive Impact

Our young auditors are key contributors to a larger cause.

By testing business’ compliance with age-verification laws, each auditor helps to prevent underage sales of age-restricted products, promoting safety and responsibility within communities.

Their work has a direct impact on reducing risks associated with underage drinking, knife crime, smoking, and gambling.

Auditor Wellbeing

We prioritise the safety of our auditors, responsibly managing and educating them about the potential risks associated with age-restricted products.

Audits are visually checked by trained approvers to flag any unusual behaviour or high-risk purchases. Area Managers can then address any concerns and safeguard auditor wellbeing.

We are increasingly promoting ‘No ID’ audit processes and ‘refund’ audits to minimize the need for purchasing age-restricted items, such as knives.

Community Engagement

We are inspired by the altruism of our young auditors, who often go above and beyond their roles to support their communities.

Many auditors have donated excess groceries from their audits to food banks and homeless shelters, exemplifying the spirit of International Youth Day and making a tangible difference in their local communities.


As we celebrate International Youth Day, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting and empowering young people.

Cat (Catriona) Jolley, Serve Legal’s Marketing Executive, exemplifies growth within the company. Starting as an auditor at 18, her commitment and skill quickly led her to lead the Marketing Team by 21. Now, she oversees Serve Legal’s daily marketing operations, helping to shape the brand’s public image and online presence.

Being a compliance auditor is a part-time, flexible role, which is ideal to fit in and around your other work or studies. There is no obligation to complete work every week, and talented auditors can advance to management positions within the organisation.
