I'm Shree, and I am an ID compliance auditor for Serve Legal. I first heard about the role through a friend, and was immediately enticed by the flexible hours, reimbursed travel costs, and ease of applying. I started working for Serve Legal during the summer holidays to earn some extra money, and have continued auditing during my gap year, where the flexible nature of the work means I can easily balance it with another part time job, hobbies, and any other commitments. There’s no obligation to work a certain number of hours per week; you can just pick up assignments when you've got some free time, making it the perfect job for college or university students with a busy schedule. From my first day, I was well supported by my Area Manager, who was always available to answer any questions, no matter how stupid!
My first batch of assignments was in Blackpool, where I audited supermarkets, pubs, betting shops and a bingo hall. One of my favourite things about being an auditor is the variety with regards to where audit assignments are and what you have to do. Sometimes you'll be buying some beer from the supermarket, another day you’ll be going into hardware and craft stores; you might even end up at an arcade in a seaside resort! Each batch of audits involve going to different places, interacting with different people, and coming home with an assortment of reimbursed items.
Being an auditor has also helped me gain independence, and challenged me to do things I previously wouldn’t have had the confidence to do. Before becoming an auditor, I had never set foot in a bingo hall and had no idea how to write out a betting slip! Now, I'm confident about navigating towns and cities I've never been to before, and feel completely comfortable walking into a pub or betting shop by myself.
Working as a Serve Legal auditor has helped me to explore new cities, pushed me out of my comfort zone, and challenged me to try new things. Through my role, I’ve developed my planning and organisational skills, and improved my attention to detail. Being an auditor has provided me with transferable skills and valuable work experience that will help me achieve my career goals, and look great on a CV!
It’s a brilliant job for young people looking for some additional income, and I would definitely recommend the job to anyone considering joining the Serve Legal team.
